Named one of the top 10 Pride Festivals in the nation by The Advocate in 2008, our festival is the second largest festival in Kansas City.
Taking place in the heartland, our objective is to use our many voices and talents to celebrate, educate and share our diversity with those in the greater Kansas City area and surrounding region.
Show Me Pride is pleased to announce Pride Week June 1st - June 6th, 2010, which includes a myriad of events culminating with the 32nd Pride Festival on Saturday, June 5th and Sunday, June 6th. On these days, over 30,000 people from the midwest will come together for one of the most exciting festivals of the year.
Kansas City was selected in June, 2009 by Fast Company magazine as one of 12 "hot spots" to watch worldwide. Kansas City is receiving these accolades because it is embracing and celebrating its own unique voice, cultutre, and attitude.
Kansas City is said to be the home of more fountains than any city in the world except Rome. Many of Kansas City's most famous fountains are found on the Country Club Plaza. The Plaza's streets are adorned with artworks from throughout the world, and the fountains found here are some of the city's most decorative and popular.
With an area of 318 square miles, the city is the largest city in Missouri. The city and surrounding suburb population is in excess of 2 million people and one of the most affordable destinations in the United States for visiting and living. With a median housing value of $84,502, the city boasts spectacular neighborhoods ranging across state lines.
Imagine lush meadows, still ponds and the most wonderful, colorful, fragrant roses you'll ever see or smell during May and June-when Mother Nature reveals her magic and dull soil explodes into brilliant splendor.
UNITY VILLAGE offers the visitor 1,400 acres containing fountains, a rose garden, two meditation gardens, and woodlands with walking paths and ponds that surround a natural preserve and nature prairie. Unity Village is located 20 miles southeast of Kansas City on 350 Highway and Colbern Road.
Just 35 minutes down the road from Unity Village lies POWELL GARDENS. This not-for-profit 21-year-old botanical garden is a scenic wonder set among 915 acres of lush rolling hills with display gardens, native grasses, nature trails and wild-flowers. The 3.5 acre perennial garden is the largest in the Midwest, with more than 5,000 plants. One area of the garden is designed to attract butterflies.

THE KANSAS CITY POWER & LIGHT DISTRICT, offering over a half million square feet, is the mid-west's premier entertainment epicenter. With more than 45 unique and captivating retail outlets, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues, the District offers something for everyone. Located in the heart of downtown, this vibrant, new eight-block neighborhood is bringing the beat back to Kansas City.
The COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA has a popularity and reputation that has been recognized around the country. The entire 15-block district, with more than 150 shops and dozens of fine restaurants, gives local flavor as well as being a national fashion center. Pleasant surprises can be found along each block - from tiny shoe boutiques to delicious chocolatiers, couture clothiers, stylish salons and fine jewelry. With its rich history, it is understandable that the Country Club Plaza is another Midwest premier destination.
Our organization consists of an eager group of volunteers from the greater Knasas City metropolitan area. Our committee members are all greatly involved in their own businesses, as well as members of other organizations within our city. The dedication and determination that makes our events successful is evident by the growing number of attendees that continue to flock to our festival events.
Show Me Pride gives direct community support by sponsoring and exhibiting at a wide variety of events that are a primary means of fundraising for many community organizations.
